Item 8.01 Other Events.
On June 30, 2005, Matrix Service Company (Matrix) issued a press release which announced that it was named as a member of the new Russell Microcap (TM) Index when the broad-market index was reconstituted June 24, 2005 by Frank Russell Company. Index membership will go into effect immediately as of July 1 and will remain in place for one year. The full text of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K, and is incorporated by reference into this Item 8.01.

MATRIX SERVICE JOINS NEW RUSSELL MICROCAP INDEX
Index Membership Will Go Into Effect Immediately
TULSA, OK June 30, 2005 Matrix Service Co. (Nasdaq: MTRX), a leading industrial services company, today announced that it was named as a member of the new Russell Microcap Index when the broad-market index was reconstituted June 24, 2005 by Frank Russell Company. Index membership will go into effect immediately as of July 1 and will remain in place for one year.
Russell recently posted a membership list for the Russell Microcap at: www.russell.com/US/Indexes.
Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for both passive and active investment strategies. More than $2.5 trillion in assets currently are benchmarked to them. Investment managers who oversee these funds purchase shares of member stocks according to that companys weighting in the particular index.
